Northland police believe their successful prosecutions and convictions in high-profile child sex abuse cases are giving victims, and people aware of abuse, confidence to lodge complaints.
The region's child protection co-ordinator, Detective Senior Sergeant John Miller, says breaking the cycle is tough but more Northlanders seem to be coming forward to report abuse.
