In case you were ever unsure of David Bowie's poetic genius, you'll need to listen to this spine tingling audio of his 1969 classic 'Space Oddity'.

It's hard to believe the song turned 50 in July this year, but it served as a talisman for Bowie's career and gave the world it's first true taste of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.

Many believed the song was about the American Moon Landing in 1969, but Bowie revealed it was actually about the Stanley Kubrick film released a year earlier, titled 2001:A Space Oddyssey.

Take a listen to the audio below, it certainly left us in awe!
